At the beginning of 2022, Russian President Putin launched a special military action against Ukraine, which shocked the world. On the one hand, many people felt sympathy for the people in Ukraine, and on the other hand, many countries launched anti-war demonstrations. In the academic circles, there are also many discussions about the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, whether focusing on the war itself or analyzing the causes of the war and its future trend. It can be said that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 2022 is undoubtedly an indelible event in world history. This paper analyzes the character of Russian national character from Carl Jung's collective unconscious theory, and expounds the deep causes of the outbreak of the war from this aspect. This paper includes the following parts: the first chapter describes the research background and significance of this paper; the second chapter states Carl Jung's collective unconsciousness theory, including the concepts of archetype, shadow, persona, anima, animus, and self. At the same time, it analyzes the characteristics of Russian history, geography, politics and history; the third chapter explains that the research method used in this paper is the literature method; the fourth chapter analyzes the collective unconsciousness,shadow, anima, anima, persona and the failure of self of the Russian nation from the perspective of Carl Jung's collective unconsciousness. From this perspective, the reasons for the outbreak of the Russian Ukrainian conflict are analyzed in detail.
